The Tariff Council of Azerbaijan has announced a revision of the heating service tariff for the population, aiming to strike a balance between cost and quality.
Report informs that, according to Azeristiliktejizat, the state-owned heating supplier, the current cost of heat supply stands at 1.10 manats per square meter.
However, since 2011, residents have been paying only 15 qepiks per square meter, with the significant difference being covered by state subsidies.
This arrangement has placed a substantial burden on the state budget, prompting the Tariff Council to reevaluate the pricing structure.
Under the new tariff scheme, the optimal rate for the population has been set at 30 qepiks per square meter per month for those without a meter, or 14.6 manats per 1 Gcal (equivalent to 40-50 square meters) for households with a meter installed.
The revised tariffs are expected to reduce dependence on state subsidies, expand the coverage of the heating service, and improve the overall quality of heat supply.
