Azerbaijan posts 84% increase in revenues from polyethylene export

In February this year, Azerbaijan exported polyethylene in primary form worth $8.4 million, according to the March issue of the Export Review of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication, Report informs.

This is $4.2 million, or twice as high as in the same period last year.

In January-February this year, Azerbaijan exported polyethylene in primary form worth $15.3 million, an increase of $7 million or 84.3 percent from a year earlier.

The SOCAR Polymer project includes plants for the production of polypropylene with an annual capacity of 184,000 tons and the production of high-density polyethylene with a capacity of 120,000 tons per year. The opening of the polypropylene plant took place on July 18, 2018 with the participation of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Italy Ilham Aliyev and Sergio Mattarella.
