Azerbaijan is currently actively developing the concept of hybrid renewable energy facilities, Report informs, citing statements by Director of Technology and Innovations at SOCAR Green Elchin Targuluyev during the webinar "Infrastructure Development, E-Mobility and Renewable Energy Storage Solutions in Azerbaijan."
According to him, the country is going through the initial stage of integrating battery energy storage systems (BESS).
"To date, we have implemented only two projects with a capacity of 125 MW each, which are owned and operated by the grid operator. Their primary function is to ensure power grid stability. However, at the next stage, I expect hybrid renewable energy facilities to be created-a direction we are already working through. To mitigate the variability of renewable generation, we are integrating solar and wind energy alongside BESS into a unified complex, enabling more stable and flexible power generation," Targuluyev noted.
