ADVENST Spolka: Azerbaijan has a regionally significant role in the production of SAF

Azerbaijan has a regionally significant role in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production, Yevhen Pishchyk, engineer of Polish company ADVENST Spolka said at an event held in Baku titled "Caspian and Central Asia - refining, petrochemicals, trading and logistics", Report informs.

Yevhen Pishchyk noted that plant oils, including oils obtained from fast food establishments, are used as the main raw material in SAF production: "The development of such projects in Azerbaijan is of strategic importance for the region, because the country plays a central logistic role in energy and transport infrastructure and is an integral part of trade routes via the Caspian Sea."

According to him, the use of SAF in Europe is already regulated by directives, and airlines are required to use 2% environmentally sustainable aviation fuel: "In this context, Azerbaijan's existing logistics capabilities and infrastructure, including terminals and hubs, create favorable conditions for the production and distribution of SAF in the region. Azerbaijan can play a strategic center role not only in the supply of raw materials but also in the processing and regional distribution of SAF."

The expert also emphasized that, as a company, they are open to cooperation in SAF projects in Azerbaijan and want to exchange experience.
