Absheron gas production volume by 2029 announced

Gas production at the Absheron field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea will reach 5 billion cubic meters per year by the end of 2028, Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov said in an interview with CNN Business Arabic, Report informs.

In 2024, 0.6 million tons of condensate and 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas were produced from the Absheron field. In January-April 2025, 0.2 million tons of condensate and 0.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas were produced at the field.

Vice President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Elshad Nasirov said in April that production at the Absheron field began in 2023, and at the first stage, production will amount to 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year. SOCAR, TotalEnergies and ADNOC are currently working on the full development of the field. The final investment decision (FID) for the second phase of the project is expected to be made in 2025.
