Hugo Guevara: US always been popular destination for students from Azerbaijan

The US has always been a popular destination for students from Azerbaijan, US Chargé d'Affaires in Azerbaijan Hugo Guevara said at the opening of the EducationUSA graduate fair, Report informs.

He noted that for many years, Azerbaijani students have preferred the US when choosing a country for higher education: "In recent years, this interest has increased significantly: in the 2023/2024 academic year, 1,130 students from Azerbaijan studied at American universities - 25.4% more than in the previous year. This is the fourth year in a row that we have seen such impressive growth. These data indicate a growing interest and trust in the quality of American education."

Guevara noted that students from Azerbaijan studying in the UЫ become a kind of 'cultural ambassadors.'

"They not only receive a world-class education, but they also represent their culture, make friendships, and bring home new ideas that can impact the future of Azerbaijan. Many choose American universities because the US is considered a world leader in education. We have some of the best universities in the world, as well as ample scholarship opportunities - including sports scholarships, offered by various educational institutions in all sports," Guevara added.
