Minister: Vejnaly gold deposit area cleared of mines, research and exploitation preparations commenced

The area of the Vejnaly gold deposit located in Zangilan district was cleared of mines, and preparatory work for research and exploitation commenced, but unexploded ammunition brought by floodwaters poses a danger again, the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Mukhtar Babayev, said at the public hearing held on November 4 at the parliament themed “Tackling the Threat of Landmines: The Impact of Explosives on the Ecosystem."

He added that the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) is taking appropriate measures in those areas.
