JA Solar to supply 1GW of high-efficiency modules for solar projects in Azerbaijan

Chinese company JA Solar has signed a major supply agreement with Masdar, the United Arab Emirates' leading clean energy developer, to provide 1GW of its high-efficiency DeepBlue 4.0 Pro photovoltaic modules for two of Azerbaijan’s largest utility-scale solar projects—Banka and Bilasuvar, Report informs, citing JA Solar.

Once completed, the Banka and Bilasuvar solar plants are expected to generate approximately 1.53 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually, helping to avoid around 1.15 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year. The projects represent a significant step forward in Azerbaijan’s national strategy to diversify its energy mix and accelerate its transition to renewable energy.

“We are proud to contribute to this landmark project with our DeepBlue 4.0 Pro modules,” said Aiqing Yang, Executive President of JA Solar. “Masdar has long been a trusted partner, and we sincerely appreciate their continued confidence in our products and expertise. Together, we are committed to delivering reliable, high-efficiency solutions that promote a more sustainable future.”

JA Solar’s DeepBlue 4.0 Pro modules are specifically designed for high-performance operation in demanding coastal environments. With excellent resistance to corrosion, high humidity, salinity, strong winds, and airborne dust, the modules ensure long-term durability, enhanced system stability, and improved energy yield. These characteristics contribute to a lower levelized cost of electricity (LCOE), supporting greater efficiency and sustainability for large-scale projects.
