During the ongoing trial at the Baku Military Court on May 12, Habil Alasgarov, a victim of the massacre of the population of Bashlibel village in Kalbajar district by the Armenian armed forces, gave testimony, Report informs.
In his testimony, Alasgarov said they received news of Kalbajar's occupation by the Armenian army via radio.
He stated that people who learned about the attack of Armenian armed forces units on Bashlibel tried to leave the village by heading towards a tunnel. However, they saw that Armenians had surrounded Kalbajar.
"On April 5, gunshots began to be heard in Bashlibel. Armenians attacking the village were looting houses. We hid in caves to protect ourselves. After they determined where we were hiding, they started shooting at us. After throwing gas bombs into the caves where we were hiding, it was impossible to stay inside. Even though I went out and told them everyone inside was dead, they didn't believe me. They demanded that I call the people hiding in the cave to come out," Alasgarov emphasized.
The victim added that as a result of the Armenian army's armed attack on the cave, his mother received a gunshot wound to her arm: "When I went to bring my mother, they shot her. Most of those with us were elderly and women. Armenians would kill civilians without asking any questions as soon as they saw them. There were also Lebanese Armenians there. They couldn't kill me because I was able to escape. They had burned an elderly man in the cultural center, and only his head remained. They had thrown a woman into the water and frozen her. They even killed animals with such cruelty."
The trial for Armenian citizens accused of crimes against peace and humanity, including war crimes, acts of terrorism, the preparation and execution of aggressive war, genocide, violations of war laws and rules, forcible seizure and retention of power, as well as financing terrorism, among other offenses stemming from Armenia's military aggression will continues on May 15.
