State Security Service: Terrorist attack committed against MP Fazil Mustafa

A terrorist attack was committed against Mustafa Fazil Gazanfar, a member of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in front of his house on March 28, Report informs, citing the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

As a result of the attack, Fazil Mustafa received gunshot wounds to his right shoulder and the lower part of his right thigh. He is receiving the necessary medical care, and his condition is assessed as stable. There is no danger to Mustafa's life.

The main investigation department of the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan launched a criminal investigation under Articles 277 (attempt on life of the state or public figure, and also representative of the foreign state, committed with a view of discontinuance of his service or political activity or from revenge for such activity (act of terrorism)) and 228.2.1 (illegal purchase, transfer, sale, storage, transportation and carrying of fire-arms, accessories to it, supplies, explosives on preliminary arrangement by group of persons) of the Criminal Code.

Complex urgent operational-investigative measures are being implemented to identify the person who committed the terrorist act and other persons involved in the crime and bring them to criminal responsibility.
