Members of the Association of Voluntary Doctors of Azerbaijan and doctors have also joined the protest that started on the Shusha-Khankandi road on December 12. Medical workers support the protesters and monitor their health.
Anar Yusibov, a member of the Association, a well-known surgeon who served as a doctor during the Second Karabakh War, Doctor of Philosophy in Medicine, told Report's correspondent that the protests were justified:
"Russian peacekeepers create an obstacle to our free movement in our lands. Our natural resources are being looted here. The ecological balance is violated. They use the resources and discharge the waste into the rivers. This ultimately has a terrible effect on our ecology. People express their rightful resentment. We have joined them and are with our people as doctors and NGOs. We should continue to protest."
The doctor emphasized the participants of the action have no serious health issues: "There are people with high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and sore throat due to cold. We also provide them with the necessary assistance. We have been consulted 50 -60 times throughout the day."
Azerbaijani activists and members of environmental non-governmental organizations are holding a protest action on the part of the Shusha-Khankandi road under the temporary control of Russian peacekeepers. The protesters demand an end to ecological terrorism in the Karabakh economic region.
As a result of discussions held with the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent on December 3 and 7, 2022, a team of experts from the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the State Service for Real Estate Affairs under the Ministry of Economy and AzerGold Closed Joint Stock Company were set to conduct preliminary monitoring regarding the illegal exploitation of mineral deposits and the resulting ecological and other consequences in the territories of Azerbaijan, where the Russian peacekeeping contingent is temporarily stationed. However, due to the inactivity of the peacekeepers, the monitoring did not take place.
