The "Stolen Prosperity: How Colonialism Suppressed Economic Freedom in Overseas Territories" report prepared by the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) has been presented, BIG Executive Director Abbas Abbasov said during his speech at the organization's report presentation dedicated to the December 14 decolonization day.
Abbasov noted that the 2024 report reflects the deforestation caused by colonizers in those territories, damage to nature, and the slowdown of economic development there:
"The purpose of the report is to raise awareness on the issue, initiate discussions, and encourage the international community to work together towards solving these problems."
