Azerbaijan posts decline in birth rates

Azerbaijan has witnessed a decline in birth rates in the first half of 2024 compared to the previous year's figures, according to Report, which cites the State Statistics Committee.
The district (city) registration offices of the Ministry of Justice recorded a total of 48,702 newborns between January and June. Consequently, the birth rate per 1,000 population decreased from 10.7 to 9.6 compared to the first half of 2023.
Among the newborn infants, the proportion of boys was 53.2%, while the proportion of girls was 46.8%. A total of 1,622 of the infants were born as twins, 72 as triplets, and 4 as quadruplets.
