Azerbaijan allocated nearly $210,000 for landmine mitigation over three years

Between 2021 and 2024, Azerbaijan provided 355,500 manats ($209,117) in financial support for 24 projects addressing landmine-related challenges, according to Elnur Baghirli, head of the Project Management Department at the Agency for State Support to NGOs, Report informs.
Baghirli noted that Azerbaijan remains one of the most severely affected countries by landmine contamination: "Since the post-conflict period began, 387 of our citizens have lost their lives or sustained injuries due to mine explosions. In total, nearly 4,000 individuals in Azerbaijan have been impacted by landmines."
