Azerbaijanis living and working in different countries, unable to return home because of pandemic and gathered in Minsk, were evacuated to Azerbaijan on a charter flight.

Nazim Mammadov, who also returned to the country, told Report.

According to him, about 120 people returned to Azerbaijan on a charter flight from Minsk. "They are mainly Azerbaijani citizens living and working in Norway, Sweden, Japan, Ukraine, and Belarus."

Mammadov said a charter flight organized from Minsk to Baku. "We appealed to President Ilham Aliyev, First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, and the leadership of the State Committee on Work with the Diaspora to help our compatriots, who gathered in Belarus, to return homeland. We received a positive response. It was a one-way charter flight. We thank President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva for their support."

According to him, although Belarus did not apply a strict quarantine regime, the local diaspora organization has assisted them in returning home.

"The State Committee on Work with the Diaspora provided us with all conditions and met all our needs. Each of us stayed in a separate room with food three times a day. Now we are back in Azerbaijan. We remain in quarantine in the Olympic Village in Baku."
