MP Zahid Oruj hopes Western Azerbaijan heritage samples to be included in unified national fund

Zahid Oruj, the head of the Social Research Center (SRC) and a member of the Milli Majlis, expressed hope that the Ministry of Culture would include the heritage samples of Western Azerbaijan in a unified national fund, Report informs.

The MP said at the scientific-practical conference Traces of Deported Heritage, jointly organized by the SRC and the West Azerbaijan Community, that Afgan Valiyev, the author of three scientific works written in the Return Encyclopedia series, has explored 532 monuments:

"For the first time, he provided complete and detailed information about 21 shrines, 6 mosques, 21 temples, 16 fortresses, 5 caravanserais, 4 tombs, 2 domes, and a total of 144 valuable and important monuments belonging to Western Azerbaijanis in 20 categories. The wealth of Western Azerbaijan belongs entirely to our people."

Oruj emphasized that preserving the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani people means immortalizing the native land.

"It is impossible to separate the people from their roots and pass on historical memory and wealth to future generations. Heritage is the hard drive of the nation. By creating the technical conditions, identity passport and ownership register of each monument in the lost lands of Western Azerbaijan, we prove our right to the land and the heritage of our ancestors."
