Kazakhstan has joined the Hydrogen Breakthrough Agenda, which will contribute to the development of hydrogen energy in the country, Kazakh Deputy Minister of Energy Sungat Yessimkhanov said at the panel session "Green Energy and Innovation: Investment Opportunities in Kazakhstan" at COP29, Report informs.
Yessimkhanov reminded that Kazakhstan adopted the Hydrogen Energy Development Concept this year and is implementing a green hydrogen production project in the Mangistau region jointly with the German company Svevind.
The deputy minister emphasized the importance of international cooperation to achieve green energy goals and highlighted Kazakhstan's commitment to sustainable development.
The session "Green Energy and Innovation: Investment Opportunities in Kazakhstan" was organized by Kazakhstan's Ministry of Energy as part of Energy Day at COP29. Participants discussed Kazakhstan's goals and prospects for green energy development, increasing the share of renewable energy sources in the country's energy balance, nuclear and hydrogen energy, as well as state measures aimed at reducing anthropogenic methane emissions.
