Media leaders and representatives briefed on final preparations for COP29

On November 8, Anar Alakbarov, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with heads and representatives of media outlets at the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company to discuss the final preparations for the upcoming climate conference, Report informs via AZERTAC.

Alakbarov provided an update on the progress made, confirming that all preparations for COP29 have been completed. He also noted that 67,000 participants have already registered for the event.

Following the meeting, a media tour was organized to familiarize local media representatives with the conference preparations at the Olympic Stadium, the venue for COP29. The tour was attended by Arzu Aliyeva, Head of the Baku Media Center; Anar Alakbarov, Assistant to the President and member of the COP29 Organizing Committee; Narmin Jarchalova, Chair of the Board and Chief Operating Officer of COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company; and other heads of relevant departments from the Operating Company.

During the tour, media representatives from television, radio, news agencies, and news websites were given detailed information about the final stages of preparation. It was revealed that a total of 155 pavilions have been installed at the venue, with various exhibitions planned.

Participants also visited the 450-square-meter Azerbaijan Pavilion, where numerous events will take place throughout the conference.

The media leaders and journalists toured both the Blue and Green Zones of the Olympic Stadium, learning about the venue’s infrastructure, technological setup, and purpose-built zones. They also visited the Media Center, which has been designed to support the effective work of journalists during the event. The Nizami Hall, where the Leaders’ Summit will take place, will accommodate up to 1,600 participants simultaneously.

Moreover, the transportation fleet for COP29 was presented, consisting of 500 vehicles, including 210 for the Leaders’ Summit. The conference will also use 140 electric buses.

During the tour, the media representatives had the opportunity to meet with COP29 volunteers.
