While the term green digital transition may seem like a buzzword, it's crucial to remember that digital tools can significantly enhance sustainability not only in telecommunications but also in other sectors, said Agne Vaiciukeviciute, Lithuania's Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Report informs.

The deputy minister spoke about this at the High-Level Roundtable on Green Digital Action organized as part of COP29.

She stated that Lithuania is contributing to the transition to digital technology across various sectors. "We already have 4G and 5G technologies. Paper usage has been drastically reduced. We have our own private data center that uses solar energy, and the heat generated from residential centers is recycled and reused," she stated.

Vaiciukeviciute added that to strengthen digitalization, efforts must be made to enhance innovation. "Digital challenges lie ahead of us. We must strive for digital transformation to contribute to reducing carbon emissions on a global scale," she emphasized.
