The changing water cycle is at the epicenter of climate change, Kamala Huseynli-Abishova, a representative of the COP29 Presidency's Action Agenda and the Water Center, Report informs.
She made this statement during the event themed "Water for Climate: Integrating Water Solutions into NDCs and NAPs," held as part of the COP29 conference.
“There is no need to state this, as we can witness it every day in different parts of the world. The water cycle is primarily changing due to the impact of climate change," Huseynli-Abishova emphasized. "We must discuss water on climate platforms because we believe it is a directly relevant topic."
“We are aware of the challenges related to water security in Azerbaijan. You are probably alarmed by the alarming shrinkage of the Caspian Sea. In most parts of the world, water is seen as both a problem and a solution. It is also part of mitigation and adaptation strategies," the representative added.
Huseynli-Abishova revealed that the first-ever water declaration will be presented today on the COP29 platform. "This is an initiative of the COP29 Presidency's Water for Climate Action. With this initiative, we intend to launch the Baku Dialogue on Water for Climate Action."
