Jean Baderschneider: COP29 saw significant progress

Significant progress was made at COP29 in November 2024 in Azerbaijan, and the increase from $100 billion to $300 billion per year in climate finance by 2035 is an impressive achievement, Jean Baderschneider, a member of the board of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, said at a press conference on March 12, answering a question from Report.

She noted that one of the topics at the Global Baku Forum, which will be held on March 13-15, will be a discussion of how to make the roadmap from Baku to Belem successful.

"There was a lot of debate on this issue at the climate conference in Baku. Many of its participants believed that it should be $1.3 trillion. In the last hours of COP29, an action plan was developed, which, in my opinion, is a brilliant solution to this problem at the moment," she said.

"We are now in completely different conditions, since the United States has abandoned its commitments. So we are now planning to discuss problems that have become even more serious than when this roadmap was discussed at COP29. <...> So, we will all have to work very hard on this," she noted.
