Azerbaijani deputy minister: Climate change further weakens forests

Climate change exacerbates forest problems through fires, pests, and diseases, and in this regard, it is necessary to strengthen policies to prevent deforestation, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Umayra Tagiyeva told a high-level meeting on "Forests for Climate, Nature and People: Climate Financing for Forests" held on the sidelines of COP29, Report informs.
"It is necessary to implement and strengthen policies that prevent deforestation, promote sustainable land management, restore degraded forests, and integrate forest protection into national climate action plans," said the deputy minister.
Tagiyeva also emphasized the importance of mobilizing climate financing for forest preservation.
