Yalchin Rafiyev: Transition to circular economy is of strategic importance for Azerbaijan

The transition to a circular economy is currently a very important matter for Azerbaijan, COP29 lead negotiator, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev said at the International Scientific Conference of Researchers in Economics and Management.

According to Rafiyev, today, remanufacturing is of particular importance:

"It is possible to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through proper waste management and other means, using recycling opportunities. Of course, modern technologies - blockchain and artificial intelligence - can play an important role in this process."

Rafiyev noted that financial issues related to the transition to a circular economy should also be taken into account:

"For the implementation of projects in this area, financial resources, as well as the necessary infrastructure, must be available. The role of science is particularly important here. Higher education institutions can contribute to the effective application of these technologies by creating appropriate opportunities."
