Syrian minister: Major projects ahead with Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan's investment programs and projects in Syria have been discussed, Syria's Energy Minister Mohammed Al Bashir told journalists after the opening ceremony of the Türkiye-Syria gas pipeline, Report informs.
According to the minister, this is not the last project being implemented between Azerbaijan and Syria: "This agreement on gas export is just one stage of cooperation between the two countries. Larger projects are planned ahead."
Al Bashir added that during the meeting with Azerbaijan's Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov today, future cooperation directions were discussed in more detail: "During the meeting with my brother Mikayil Jabbarov, we had an extensive exchange of views about joint work to be done. Mutual visits of technical groups between Azerbaijan and Syria will be organized.
Taking this opportunity, I express my deep gratitude to Azerbaijan, our Azerbaijani brothers, as well as to the friendly states of Türkiye and Qatar."
According to the document recently signed between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and the Syrian government, all technical preparations for natural gas transportation have been completed. In the first phase of the project, the annual export of 1.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Syria is planned. The gas will be delivered to power plants in Aleppo and Homs via Türkiye's Kilis city and will be used in electricity generation.
