Mikayil Jabbarov: Volume of cargo transportation from Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan to grow to 1M tons per year

More than 300,000 tons of various goods were transported from Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan in the first quarter of 2024 by road and rail, Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov said within the Tashkent Investment Forum, Report informs referring to the Uzbek media.

“In the first three months of 2024, more than 300,000 different cargoes were transported from Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan by all types of transport. This figure is expected to reach 1 million tons per year. Transport links contributed to the development of trade and cooperation between our countries,” Jabbarov said on May 2, speaking at a panel session entitled “A joint path to success: Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.”

The minister noted that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan is actively developing in such main areas as transport, investment, energy and industrial cooperation.

Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO) Yusif Abdullayev said that an Interregional Forum between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan will be held on May 21 in the city of Guba.

Among the promising areas of cooperation between the two countries, forum participants also noted the jewelry industry and the production of building materials.

According to the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, an in-depth analysis of the main aspects of economic cooperation between the two countries was carried out at the panel session “A joint path to success: Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan”.

“Successful cooperation projects in the field of trade, investment, energy and tourism were reviewed. The great potential for further development of cooperation in various sectors of the economy was also discussed. Experts exchanged views on favorable conditions and promising areas for attracting mutual investments,” reads the message.
