Lu-Mun Holding and SOCAR Trading unite to release 25,000 endangered endemic sturgeons into Caspian Sea

In a significant effort to contribute to the conservation of endangered endemic sturgeons, Azerbaijan Fish Farm (part of Lu-Mun Holding) proudly announces, in collaboration with SOCAR Trading, the release of 25,000 sturgeons into the Caspian Sea. The conservation initiative took place at the mouth of the Kura River, and aims to revitalize the wild sturgeon population and protect this invaluable species from the brink of extinction. The release witnessed by Rufat Tabasaransky of Lu-Mun Holding LLC; delegates from SOCAR Trading; executive authorities of the Neftchala district; the assurance service provider for SOCAR Trading; and the director of the Research Center for Fisheries and Aquaculture.

Sturgeons, known for their significant ecological role in the Caspian Sea ecosystem, have encountered grave threats stemming from habitat destruction, overfishing, and illegal poaching. Recognizing the urgent need to preserve these remarkable creatures, Azerbaijan Fish Farm (part of Lu-Mun Holding) and SOCAR Trading have taken proactive measures by releasing 25,000 sturgeons back into their natural habitat. The initiative signifies a groundbreaking cooperation that exemplifies their commitment to environmental stewardship and the safeguarding of biodiversity. Through this collaborative effort, these companies aim to establish a lasting, positive impact on the ecosystem. Simultaneously, they are dedicated to supporting local communities reliant on the sturgeon population for their livelihoods, achieved via local production facilities that stimulate economic activity and create employment opportunities.

Mr. Tabasaranskiy, CEO of Lu-Mun Holding, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, "In our capacity as responsible fish farmers, we understand the pressing importance of conserving endangered species and protecting our planet's delicate ecosystems. The release of 25,000 endangered sturgeons into the Caspian Sea is a testament to our dedication to sustainability and environmental stewardship, integral to our efforts in establishing a restorative aquaculture presence within the Caspian region."

The release of these 25,000 sturgeons represents a substantial milestone in the journey towards reviving the endangered sturgeon population and preserving the ecological balance in the Caspian Sea. Lu-Mun Holding and Azerbaijan Fish Farm continue to explore additional avenues for promoting environmental sustainability and encouraging responsible aquaculture practices in Azerbaijan. Their portfolio of initiatives encompasses educational activities for fishermen involved in illegal fishing, facilitating a transition to legally safe jobs, as well as excursions for children to introduce them to modern aquaculture practices.
