Deputy minister: Azerbaijan is committed to developing gender equality in practice

Azerbaijan aims to export not only food, but also agricultural innovations, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ilhama Gadimova said during a panel session on "The Role of Women in Sustainable Development" held within the framework of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Women's Forum in Lachin, Report informs.

Gadimova noted that the basis of this transformation is the Electronic Agricultural Information System (EKTIS), Azerbaijan's national digital infrastructure for agriculture:

"EKTIS operates as a role-based, fully integrated platform: farmers declare crops and livestock; suppliers register necessary contracts, deliveries and warehouse reports; veterinarians carry out artificial insemination and health monitoring; seed farmers submit crop declarations; operators manage subsidies, monitor implementation and verify field data. These digital services provide transparency, monitoring and responsiveness at every level of the agricultural value chain."

She emphasized that the village of Aghaly in the Zangilan district, founded on the principles of smart management, green infrastructure, and sustainable livelihoods, is home to the first generation of digitally connected farmers and returnees in the liberated areas:

"Aghali women and youth now manage farms equipped with solar-powered irrigation, digital soil sensors, and e-government access points in a community designed for climate resilience and innovation. Azerbaijan is committed to advancing gender equality, sustainability, and climate justice in practice, not just in theory."
