Customs Committee: Azerbaijan has not changed customs duty rates

There are no changes in the rates of import and export customs duties in Azerbaijan, the State Customs Committee (SCC) told Report in a comment on the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 147, dated April 7, 2022.

"Decree No. 147 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, dated April 7, 2022, `On Amendments to the Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Import Customs Duty Rates and Export Customs Duty Rates’ was misinterpreted in a number of media and social networks, approved by Resolution No. 500 of the Cabinet of Ministers, dated November 17, 2017, allegedly on a decrease or increase in customs duty rates for certain goods.

“In accordance with the International Convention on the Harmonized System for the Description and Coding of Goods in order to eliminate existing inconsistencies, shortcomings in the harmonized system, as well as the classification of new commodity items, at meetings of the subcommittee of the harmonized system of the World Customs Organization with the participation of member countries, international organizations and independent experts, a new version is published with amendments and amendments," the State Customs Committee said.

According to the information, in accordance with the law of Azerbaijan “On Accession to the International Convention on the Harmonized Description and Coding System of Goods and the Protocol on Amendments to the said Convention”, in order to bring the codes of the Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity in line with the version of the International Harmonized System for 2022 on the proposal the State Customs Committee, agreed with the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Finance, the prime minister signed a resolution "On amendments to the commodity nomenclature of the foreign economic activity of the Republic of Azerbaijan, import customs duties and export customs duties".

The decision enters into force 30 days after its publication.
