Azerbaijan triples methanol exports to Netherlands

In January-September 2022, Azerbaijan exported 368,635 tons of methanol (methyl alcohol) for $103.96 million, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistics Committee.

According to the committee, the quantity of methanol exports increased by 65% year-on-year, while the country’s earnings soared by 2.1 times.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan exported 114,570 tons (+2.8 times) of methanol to the Netherlands for $31.1 million (3.4 times more than a year ago), 102,505 tons (+2.7%) to Turkiye for $30.298 million (+41.1%), 71,531 tons (+4.4 times) to Romania for $20.11 million (+5.6 times), 28,732 tons (+91%) to Italy for $9.683 million (+2.5 times), and 22,610 tons to Spain for $6.666 million (there was no supply a year ago).

In 2021,t 45.2% of the 357,720 tons of methanol exported by Azerbaijan (to 9 countries) went to Turkiye, 14.8% to the Netherlands, and 9.2% to Israel.
