Azerbaijan starts importing turmeric from 2 more countries

In January-October this year, Azerbaijan imported 603 tons of turmeric for $454,500.

According to Report’s calculations based on the data of the State Statistics Committee, this is 10% more in quantitative terms and 10% more in value compared to the same period last year.

During the reporting period, 238.7 tons (+40%) of products were imported from Iran for $291,000 (+41%), from India 209.85 tons (-8.3%) for $270,000 (-5.6%), from Turkiye - 5.4 tons (-7.2%) for $40,000 (+3.7%), from the UAE 0.6 tons for $800, from Spain - 0.03 tons for $500, from Italy - 0.01 tons (unchanged) for $100 (+80%), from Luxembourg - 0.01 tons for $10.

After a break of two years and four months, imports from the UAE were restored. This year, for the first time in the last 11 years (official foreign trade statistics have been in the public domain since 2011), deliveries were made from Spain and Luxembourg.

Of 510 tons of turmeric imported by Azerbaijan last year (from seven countries), 56.5% came from India and 40.4% from Iran.
