Azerbaijan spends more on cocoa imports in 2023

In the first half of 2023, Azerbaijan imported cocoa and cocoa products for $52.5 million (16.9% more year-on-year), Report informs citing the country’s State Customs Committee.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan also exported cocoa and cocoa products for $4.7 million (0.06% more YoY).

In the first six months of 2023, imports of cocoa and cocoa products made 0.64% of Azerbaijan's total imports, and their exports made 0.03% of the country’s total exports.

In January-June 2023, Azerbaijan carried out trade operations with foreign countries in the amount of $26.166 billion (5.4% more YoY).

In the structure of foreign trade turnover for six months, $17.968 billion accounted for exports, and $8.198 billion - for imports. Over the past year, exports decreased by 2.8%, while imports grew by 29%.

Ultimately, the positive balance of foreign trade amounted to $9.769 billion - 19.4% less than a year ago.
