Azerbaijan’s trout imports from Belarus soar

In January-February 2025, Azerbaijan imported 612 tons of trout (live, fresh or chilled, frozen, smoked), valued at $2.7 million, marking a year-on-year increase of 33% and 27%, respectively, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.
During this period, Azerbaijan purchased trout from:
- Iran: 596 tons (+32%) worth $2.5 million (+29%);
- Ukraine: 9.2 tons (-7%) worth $144,800 (-12%);
- Belarus: 1.9 tons (+2.5 times) worth $33,100 (+2.5 times);
- Türkiye: 5 tons worth $21,000 (no supply a year ago);
- Russia: 0.03 tons worth $700 (no supply a year ago).
In 2024, the country imported a total of 3,478 tons of trout, of which 95% came from Iran.
