Azerbaijan resumes peat supply from Finland

In January-May of 2025, Azerbaijan imported 6,976 tons of peat (including peat fragments), valued at $1.3 million, marking a year-on-year increase of 11% in volume and 22% in value, Reports informs, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan purchased peat from:
- Georgia: 4,585 tons (+24%) worth $459,000 (+24%);
- Latvia: 525 tons (+25%) worth $227,000 (+46%);
- Russia: 763 tons (-52%) worth $170,400 (-42%);
- Estonia: 329 tons worth $142,000 (no supply a year ago);
- Lithuania: 422 tons (+82%) worth $115,200 (+2.1 times).
After a 2-year and 2-month break, Azerbaijan has resumed supply from Finland (0.02 tons worth $30).
Overall, Azerbaijan imported 15,491 tons of peat in 2024, of which 59% came from Georgia.
