Azerbaijan increases electric car imports by sevenfold

In January 2022, Azerbaijan imported 5,685 electric cars worth $68.2 million, respectively, up 22.5% and 27.7% from the previous year, Report informs, citing the State Customs Committee.
According to the Committee, the number of cars with a seating capacity of ten or more seats increased by 77.4% to 55 ($ 6.7 million), and the number of passenger cars and other motor vehicles rose by 23.4% to 5,231 ($ 49 million).
Of these, 1,137 ($10.3 million) are hybrid electric vehicles, and 13 ($505.4 million) are electric cars, respectively, up 2.5-fold and 6.5-fold from the previous year.
Meanwhile, vehicles for cargo transportation fell by 0.3% to 366 ($8.9 million), and special vehicles rose by 5.5 times to 33 ($3.7 million).
