Azerbaijan begins talks on new Convention project with Kazakhstan

The State Tax Service (STS) under the Economy Ministry of Azerbaijan and the National Revenue Committee of Kazakhstan have begun talks on a new Convention project on the elimination of double taxation with respect to taxes on income and property and the prevention of tax evasion, Report informs, citing the STS.
Orkhan Musayev, head of the International Taxation and Tax Monitoring Main Department of the STS, Ablaikhan Bagibekov, Deputy Director of the Tax and Customs Legislation Department at the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan, and Kymbat Ibrayeva, Deputy Head of the Non-resident Taxation Department of the State Revenue Committee of Kazakhstan, are participating in the relevant meeting.
In September 1996, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan signed a Convention on the elimination of double taxation with respect to taxes on income and property and the prevention of tax evasion. This agreement came into force on January 1, 1998.
In April 2017, the parties signed a protocol as an addition to this agreement, removing property-related clauses from it. This protocol came into force on January 1, 2019.
