Azerbaijan begins hybrid car imports from another country

In January-October of 2024, Azerbaijan imported 18,986 units of hybrid cars worth $520 million, up 61% year-on-year (YoY) in number and 76% more YoY in value, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan purchased 8,488 units (+5.3 times) of hybrid cars from China worth $221.1 (+4.6 times), 5,268 units (-13%) from Japan worth $78.8 million (+3%), 1,054 units (-18%) from Germany worth $66.5 million (-23%), 1,379 units (+8%) from the United States worth $53.2 million (+61%), and 1,406 units (+95%) from South Korea worth $32.6 million (+94%).

In 2024, Azerbaijan imported hybrid cars from Albania (1 unit worth 8,400) for the first time in 13 years.

In 2023, the country imported a total of 14,000 hybrid cars from 20 countries, 48.3% of which came from Japan.
