The introduction of different models of tariffs for water use is not ruled out in Azerbaijan, Aydin Abbasov, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of the United Water Supply Service of Large Cities, told journalists.
Report quotes him as saying at present, water tariffs in Azerbaijan do not fully cover the actual costs of the service:
"Although providing a consumer with 1 cubic meter of water costs 1.91 manat, the current tariff is 0.70 manat. This hinders the rapid development of the water supply sector. For this reason, the issue of tariff differentiation may be put on the agenda."
According to him, specific proposals on this issue are not currently being discussed.
