Tomato consumption up 3% in Azerbaijan

In 2023, a total of 981,197 tons of tomatoes were consumed in Azerbaijan, 2.5% more than in 2022, Report informs, citing the country's State Statistical Committee.
Of this, 63.9% or 627,390 tons belong to personal consumption of the population (2.9% more), 141,081 tons to exports (0.6% less), 55,928 tons to losses (2.5% more), 24,338 tons were used for the production of food products (9.8% more), and 11 tons were used for seeds (8.3% less). As a result, 132,449 tons of tomato stock was created in the country, which increased by 2.5% year-on-year.
During the reporting period, tomato production in Azerbaijan increased by 2.3% to 845,525 tons, and tomato import increased by 20.8% to 6,418 tons.
