CARCAS and Melo Dora LLC sign cooperation memorandum in agricultural sector

On June 23, the Caspian Agricultural Research Center (CARCAS) and “Melo Dora” LLC signed a memorandum of cooperation in Baku city. The document formalizes a partnership between the two parties aimed at advancing modern agriculture, local seedling production, agrotechnical support, and sustainable agri-business development.

The cooperation covers the following key areas:

  • provision of high-quality planting material,
  • orchard establishment and agrotechnical services,
  • implementation of joint production and educational initiatives.

A special emphasis within the agreement is placed on the development of artificial intelligence (AI) programs for agriculture — including solutions for managing agrotechnical cycles, yield forecasting, plant and soil monitoring.

One of the cornerstone outcomes of the agreement is the shared intention to establish an Agricultural Academy. The Academy will focus on training of young professionals, enhancing the qualifications of agronomists and introducing advanced practices into the agricultural education system. This initiative will be developed in close partnership with the Azerbaijan State Agricultural University and leading research institutes under the Ministry of Agriculture.

According to the Chairman of CARCAS Supervisory Board Mr. Rifat Sultan-zade this partnership marks a new model of collaboration between science, business, and technology:

“We are not just forming a partnership — we are building an ecosystem where science, production, and innovation work together for the sustainable development of agriculture in Azerbaijan. As part of today’s signing, the parties also agreed to jointly participate in the Center’s project initiative: the establishment of nurseries for growing seedlings. The primary objective of this initiative is to address the shortage of high-quality domestic planting material and to develop a local seedling market, thereby supporting import substitution. In the long term, the project aims to pave the way for the creation of a new export direction.”

“Melo Dora” LLC the company specializing in modern horticultural and processing solutions, expressed its commitment to investing in long-term initiatives, including digitalization and localization of key production processes.

CARCAS leadership reaffirmed its mission to serve as a bridge between scientific institutions, producers, and international partners — aiming to elevate the national agricultural sector to a new level of efficiency and resilience.
