The Plant Protection and Technical Crops Research Institute under the Ministry of Agriculture, along with Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, has developed a mobile application (HealWith) that identifies plant diseases, Anar Jafarov, Director of the Agrarian Innovation Center of the ministry, told Report.
"The mobile application also informs the user about the treatment of the plant. Thanks to artificial intelligence (AI), it is now possible to identify not only the symptoms of the disease, but also specific pathogens, understand plant-pathogen interactions, and analyze nutrient deficiencies in both soil and plants. The software related to artificial intelligence allows for accurate identification of diseases of individual plants and processing of data," he noted.
Jafarov added that the mobile application also provides farmers with advantages such as more optimal use of resources like water, fertilizers, and pesticides: "This precise farming not only increases the productivity and quality of the harvest collected from the field, but also minimizes waste and negative impacts on the environment. At the same time, this tool also helps the agronomist's work."
