Azerbaijan seeks higher agricultural productivity under new state program

Azerbaijan's agricultural sector will shift to an intensive development model.

Report's correspondent dispatched to Zangilan informs that Vahid Hajiyev, the Azerbaijani President's special representative in the Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan districts, said this at a meeting on the State Program for the Development of Production and Processing of Agricultural, Fishery and Aquaculture Products in Azerbaijan for 2026–2030.

According to him, important reforms have been carried out in recent years to develop the agricultural sector, state support mechanisms have been expanded, and the level of self-sufficiency in a number of products has increased.

"At the same time, unused lands have been brought back into crop rotation, agro-parks have been established across the country, subsidy mechanisms have been improved, and additional opportunities have been created for the development of entrepreneurship. President Ilham Aliyev has noted that the existing potential in the agricultural sector has not been fully realized and that the pace of development observed in recent years has not been satisfactory," Hajiyev said.

He noted that, for this reason, a new State Program has been prepared with the participation of the Presidential Administration and the Cabinet of Ministers.

"The main goal is not to use more land, but to achieve higher results per hectare. The target is to ensure the transition to an intensive and efficient development model in agriculture," he added.
