Azerbaijan's sunflower harvesting soars by 6.3%

Azerbaijan harvested 31,100 tons of sunflower during January-October of 2024, which is 6.3% year-on-year, Report informs, citing the country’s Agriculture Ministry.
According to the ministry, the sunflower harvest for the 2024 agricultural year is nearing completion countrywide.
Sunflower cultivation in the country is subsidized by the state. The Agricultural Subsidy Council has announced that in the upcoming agricultural year, farmers cultivating sunflowers in areas equipped with modern irrigation systems will receive a subsidy of 180 manats ($105.88) per hectare.
Meanwhile, those growing sunflowers in areas without modern irrigation systems will be granted a subsidy of 120 manats ($70.59) per hectare.
