Azerbaijan accounts for 89% of organic fertilizer imports to Georgia

Georgia imported 1,776 tons of organic fertilizers (including animal and vegetable), valued at $213,000 from Azerbaijan in January-April of 2024, Report informs with the reference to National Statistics Office of Georgia.
Compared to the corresponding period of 2023, the imports show a 0.4-percent decline in volume and a 40-percent decrease in value.
Thus, Azerbaijan ranked first among 6 countries supplying organic fertilizers to Georgia.
Overall, Georgia bought 2,000 tons of organic fertilizers worth $310,000 from abroad during the first four months of this year, which represents a 5-percent growth in volume, while a 34-percent drop in value compared to the same period of 2023.
Of that, 111 tons worth $43,000 came from Türkiye, 53 tons worth $19,230 from Latvia, 5.67 tons worth $14,400 from Italy, 66 tons worth $11,320 from Russia.
Meanwhile, in 2023, Georgia bought 5,629 tons of organic fertilizers worth $1.1 million from abroad, of which 5,302 tons worth $799,000 came from Azerbaijan.
