A total of 829,400 people travelled abroad from Azerbaijan from January through July of 2022, which is two times higher than the same period last year, Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee.
According to the committee, 47.9% of the Azerbaijanis who travelled abroad visited Turkiye, 16.6% visited Russia, 12.2% travelled to Iran, 8.3% to Georgia, and 15% opted for other countries. Men accounted for 64.8% and women were responsible for 35.2% of all those who travelled abroad.
Compared to the same period last year, the number of Azerbaijanis who traveled to Iran, Turkiye and Georgia increased by 4.3 times, 2.2 times, and 1.9 times, respectively.
The number of Azerbaijanis visiting Russia went up by a whopping 23.2%.
Over 60% of Azerbaijani citizens who travelled abroad used air, 37.3% used automobiles, and 2.6% used sea transport.
