Islamophobia is not a new process, it's just that its modern manifestations have become more active, Antonio de Almeida-Ribeiro, Acting Secretary General of the International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID) said at an international scientific conference themed "Islamophobia in Focus: Unveiling Bias, Shattering Stigmas," held in Baku, Report informs.
Almeida-Ribeiro noted that online hate speech has become one of the most dangerous problems:
"According to the study, half of Muslim respondents living in European Union countries face difficulties in finding housing or employment. Hate speech has also surged by 21% on social media platforms."
The KAICIID official believes that cooperation needs to be strengthened to prevent these situations:
"Religious leaders should come together regularly and hold discussions. Steps that shape and drive policy are essential. Cross-sector partnerships should also be expanded."
