US congressmen visit Türkiye to discuss bilateral, regional issues

The delegation led by Mike Rogers, Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, is on a visit to Türkiye, Report informs with reference to Haber Global.

The US delegation includes congressmen Adam Smith, Saluda Carbajal, and Veronica Escobar.

US representatives met with Turkish National Defense Minister, Yashar Guler, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and the Chairman of the Defense Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Hulusi Akar.

During the meetings, the parties discussed a number of issues, including bilateral relations, the war in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip, the combat against ISIS and PKK terrorist groups, and the planned visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the US on May 9.

The meetings stated that the creation of terrorist corridors on the borders of Türkiye will not be allowed, and the national security of the country will always be kept high.

US representatives will also meet today with the head of Türkiye's National Intelligence Organization, Ibrahim Kalin.
