Ukraine reveals updated number of Russia's casualties in Ukraine

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has published an updated report on the losses of the Russian Armed Forces, Report informs.

According to the General Staff, 16,100 Russian servicemen have been neutralized so far.

Besides, 561 tanks, 1,625 armored combat vehicles, 291 artillery systems, 90 air defense systems, 49 anti-aircraft systems, 115 military aircraft, 125 helicopters, 1,089 cars, five ships/boats, 72 fuel tanks, 53 drones, 18 special equipment of the Russian Army have been destroyed by the Ukrainian forces.

Russia annexed the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in Ukraine in March 2014. After that, military operations began in the Donbas region of Ukraine. Fighting broke out between the Ukrainian Armed Forces and militants from the Russian-backed Donetsk and Luhansk republics. Moscow has denied involvement in the conflict.

On February 21, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he signed a decree recognizing the two self-proclaimed republics created in the Donbas region.

On February 24, the Russian Armed Forces attacked Ukraine under the pretext of protecting the population of the self-proclaimed republics.

The International Criminal Court in the Hague has launched an investigation into Russia's crimes against humanity during its military actions in Ukraine.

The absolute majority of UN members, including Azerbaijan, recognize the Crimean peninsula and the Donbas as Ukrainian sovereign territory.
