Torrential rains cause flooding in Turkey

Flooding caused by torrential rains has hit the Rize and Artvin provinces in the northeast of Turkey. Search and rescue works are currently underway in the area, Turkey's Emergencies Department told on Thursday, Report informs.
"Today flooding caused by extreme rainfalls has hit an Arhavi region of the Artvin province. The Arhavi river spilled over its banks, flooding the regional center and rural roads. Work is underway to rescue our residents affected by the natural calamity. A similar situation has established in the Findikli area of the Rize province," the department said.
Turkey's Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu has arrived at the site. He said there are currently no deaths, but two people have been injured.
