"Ukraine is trying to block the land route between Russia and Crimea," Ukrainian political analyst Taras Berezovets told Report.
According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have launched local offensive operations in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia: "As a result, 7 villages have been liberated in recent days: Lobkove, Levadne, Novodarivka, Neskuchne, Storozheve, Makariv, Blahodatne. Ukrainian troops are attacking the defense fortifications of the occupiers, cutting off the communication between their positions."
The analyst said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine advanced more than 6 kilometers in different directions: "But we cannot say this is a large-scale counter-offensive operation. This is a preparation for a large-scale offensive operation. Depending on the operational situation on the front, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will go to a large-scale counter-offensive. This will likely happen in several directions. The main goal of the Ukrainian army during the counter-offensive is to block the land routes between Russia and Crimea, the occupied territory of Ukraine. When and in which direction this counter-offensive operation will be carried out is a military secret. But I think that this operation will begin shortly. Moreover, the Ukrainian army should be as close to Crimea as possible during this operation. This will allow Ukraine to strike Russian military logistics in Crimea. Currently, the enemy sends 75 percent of the cargo to Crimea through the land corridor. Only 25% of the cargo to Crimea is supplied through the Crimean Bridge. Thus, at the moment, the Ukrainian army does not have the goal of destroying the Crimean Bridge. The main goal is to block the land corridor connecting Taganrog, Mariupol, and Simferopol.”
