Russian Defense Ministry: MiG-31 scrambled over approach of Norwegian Air Force plane to border

A MiG-31 fighter of the Russian air defense forces has been scrambled into the air over the Barents Sea as a base patrol aircraft R-8A Poseidon of the Norwegian Air Force was approaching the state border, Report informs referring to Russian media.

“On October 26, 2023, Russian means of airspace control over the Barents Sea detected an air target approaching the state border of the Russian Federation. To identify the air target and prevent violation of the state border, a MiG-31 fighter from the air defense forces on duty was scrambled into the air,” reads the message.

The Russian Defense Ministry noted that when the Russian fighter approached, the foreign aircraft made a turn from the state border of the Russian Federation.
